the wonder of eBay..

Taking a little advice from people i have just been browsing eBay for photos of Ginger, have even bid on a few :) if anyones feeling rich, although i was browsing ebay.co.uk most of the photos for sale (buy not not auction) are from the United States, nice variety of prices to! I also found someone selling a Press Book for 'Flying Down to Rio' $150 is a little steep for me though

Photo i hadn't seen from the 1940 Academy Awards, Ginger with Jimmy Stewart and ?

They look like they could have easily started dancing!!

Press photo for Heart Beat (1946) Ginger with Sam Wood

Now that's not a scene we saw in the movie!! Ginger and Jacques Francois

Ginger and Fred during the Swingtrot, Barkleys of Broadway 1949
I may have lost control of my senses hehe, an original print from Hat Check Girl was to good an offer to pass up, even if it did cost $49!!!

  2. ...oh, the siren song of eBay...don't be seduced by its perpetually gingery offerings... PayPal will lead you down the path of financial ruin... well, just...be a bit 'wise', unlike this writer... you can get REAL gone, money-wise, REAL quick if ya don't watch it...

But, yeah, it's cool every once and while to pop on a few of the items up for bid...

If I had mega-bucks, yeah, I'd clean out the whole Ginger category, of course...

See, now you've got eBay in my HEAD!!!! I need to go listen to Pink Floyd or something to get 'de-programmed'... :-]

    KIG!!! (and...be CAREFUL!!!)

    2. well, I may take an 'advance' on 'Ho-Ho' this year... I can ALWAYS find SOMETHING on there to bid on... heck, some of the items I already have are on there with folks asking MUCH more than what I paid! Interesting...of course, ya can ASK any price...but what ya get is a different story usually...

Well, hope all is well - I'm still plodding along on the RIM post...getting closer...I'm working on a 'cap theme'...may turn out pretty funny...we'll see.

      KIG, Kat!

    3. I found a load of sheet music on eBay today from Sitting Pretty, pretty cheap but they wanted $49 for postage internationally :O so i passed, i did however win another photo of Ginger from the 1950s for $4.70 with postage :)
I noticed that an item that i had to send back because pages were missing (sheet music for Top Hat) was relisted for far more than i had originally paid and they'd noted that it had pages missing this time.. I don't know if they sold it however

All good here, review for Top Hat (on stage) is almost done, enjoying last few days of vacation as Anneliese is back to school next week!

      KIG!!

  3. Those are lovely photos. At this point I can't even remember whether I've seen them all or not....I've looked at so many. That's Bob Hope in the picture with Ginger and Jimmy Stewart --- a really cute picture at that. I definitely never saw that one with Jacques. I loved how Ginger looked in Heartbeat, and that photo captures her perfectly.

Next time I write to the fellow who saw Hat Check Girl in England I'm going to ask him where and how long ago. I expect it was decades. I still think you'll be the one to uncover it, though Molly is certainly on the prowl :)

    1. Thanks for the headsup on who that was with Ginger and Jimmy! Ginger always looks so young in Heartbeat, i remember how much of a shock i got when i found out when it was made!!

Ooo! hope you manage to find out :) It could turn out pretty useful ya never know!

  4. Beware e-bay. It is a temptation that won't give up! The photo of Ginger and Jacques Francois is interesting. I wonder if it is from a scene that was cut?

    1. The photo of Ginger and Jacques is the kind of gem that you'd probably only find on ebay.. i don't remember seeing that in the extras on the dvd!! or that photo of Ginger, Fred and 'Shirleen' in those outfits (the girls not Fred) its like the mystery of what happened in the gondela between Dale and Jerry in Top Hat, i know its a film but oh to have been a fly on the wall haha!
